A mobile communications and virtual assistant team needed large-scale, varied question formulations to continuously optimize its AI systems. The team faced a shortage of diverse ways to ask the same questions. This limited the breadth of training data available for model improvement. A crowdsourced workflow was implemented to generate training data at scale. The process used 1,000 predefined questions as the starting set. Contributors paraphrased each question to create many alternative formulations. The effort delivered a high-volume dataset of question variations essential for training and improving the AI models. In total, 1,000 predefined questions were paraphrased at scale. Each question was paraphrased 100–200 times to increase linguistic variety for optimization.
