A medical practice faced a heavy documentation burden that pulled physicians away from patient care. Time spent on EHR/EMR updates contributed to workload strain and reduced time available for direct patient interactions. The practice needed a way to keep up with documentation demands without slowing clinic flow. The practice implemented remote virtual medical scribe support to handle real-time documentation during appointments. The scribes connected securely so they could see and hear visits and document directly in the clinic’s EMR/EHR. This allowed physicians to delegate documentation and administrative tasks while maintaining accurate, patient-centered records. With scribe support, one clinician reported about a 1.5–2.0 hour reduction in time spent in the EMR. The approach aligned with measured time savings of 66 minutes per 8-hour shift when using a medical scribe. It also supported better patient experience, consistent with findings that 57% of patients reported better interactions when their doctor was assisted by a scribe.
